About

Where the detail comes from.

IX Construction Group is a residential construction company with its roots in carpentry. This is what that means in practice. It’s also the part of the business that hasn’t changed.

01

It started as carpentry

The work began in carpentry: fitted furniture, staircases, windows and doors, the parts of a house that get made rather than bought.

The jobs grew. A kitchen became the room around it, then the room became the rest of the floor. Work that had started as joinery turned into whole refurbishments, conversions and buildings put up from the ground.

The scope now runs from a single room through to a building on its own foundations. Underneath it, the method stayed where it started.

02

What it left behind

Carpentry is unforgiving about order. You set out before you cut, because a line in the wrong place is still in the wrong place after everything else has been built on it.

That’s still how a job is run. The setting out comes first, so the junctions are resolved before the work reaches them. Finish is part of the build rather than something applied at the end, because by the time it goes on the difficult things are already decided.

It’s the reason a room reads as made rather than assembled. How a project runs sets out the stages.

Judge it on the work

Every project on this site is one we did, photographed on the job rather than styled afterwards. Several are shown from before the work started, through the part nobody usually sees, to the finished room.

We take on extensions, refurbishments and renovations, loft and barn conversions, garden rooms and timber structures, kitchens and carpentry. The projects here are the ones we’ve photographed properly. They’re the fairest way to judge the work.

Based in the South. Working across London, the South East and nationwide on selected projects.

What clients say

What impressed us most was how clean and tidy they kept everything. For such a big project, there was very little disruption.

They handled the many quirks of the room (such as a low beam, low window sills and numerous awkward pipe boxes) with precision and good judgement.

We could not be happier with our new space, it’s better than we ever expected.
